Copyright FAQ

Common questions about music and rights on AudioGroves.

2. What happens to my Remixes if the original audio is deleted?

Because AudioGroves relies on "Remix Chains," the integrity of the chain is important.

If a "Base Sound" is removed due to a copyright strike, any remixes attached to it may also be disabled or hidden to prevent further infringement.
We recommend uploading Original Sounds or Royalty-Free samples to ensure your remix chains stay live forever.

3. I made the beat myself, but it sounds like [Famous Artist]. Is that okay?

Music is all about inspiration!

"Type Beats": If you composed the music yourself and it simply "sounds like" a certain style, that is generally fine.
Sampling: If you sampled a direct recording of a famous song, you are at higher risk of a takedown notice.

4. What is a DMCA Takedown?

The Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) is a law that protects platforms like AudioGroves.

If a copyright owner finds their music on our site without permission, they may send us a "Takedown Notice."
We must act quickly to remove that specific file to maintain our legal protections.

5. How can I protect my own Uploads?

When you upload an original sound to AudioGroves, you own it.

By default, you choose whether others can Remix your work.
If you see someone else re-uploading your original work to another site without permission, you have the right to issue your own takedown request to that site.

6. Does AudioGroves track my activity?

We use PostHog for product analytics and troubleshooting.

Purpose: We track events like audio plays and page views to understand how our features are performing.
Session Replay: This helps us troubleshooting technical glitches by allowing us to see a visual reconstruction of user journeys.
Privacy: PostHog does not use third-party tracking cookies for advertising. We automatically mask sensitive information to ensure it is never stored.
